What is Children Learning Reading

Share with Friends & Family

What is Children Learning Reading is a program that teaches the all-important skills of reading at a very young age.

Reading fosters good learning, whether that be from books, magazines, the internet, or the blackboard at school.

By learning to read at an earlier age, children are given an effective tool to continue learning throughout their life.

It builds confidence and as a result, they are more likely to try new things further expanding upon their knowledge through experience.

When a child is young, the brain is developing at it’s fastest rate, the ability to learn new things is easier when the brain is in this heightened learning phase.

As a grandparent, I have the time and flexibility of schedule to enjoy reading with my grandchildren.

Reading stories is a fun and entertaining way to pass on important life lessons.

A Brief Overview

Children Learning Reading was created by Jim Yang as a way to teach his own children to read by the time they were 3 years old. The program can effectively teach children between the ages of 2-8 to read in as little as 12 weeks.

The program uses phonics and phonemic teaching that can significantly boost a child’s ability to read in a matter of days,

The program is broken down into 2 categories and 50 short lessons. These lessons begin by helping the child understand letters. It then moves on to phrases, sentences, rhymes, and stories.

According to the Department of Education of Oxford University states that the first 7 years of a child’s development are the most crucial with peak reading learning to be as young as 2 – 3 years old. This is the age that Jim’s program targets to ensure maximum success.

Through PDF’s, audios, and videos, the process of reading and learning is made easier and fun. With just a few minutes of daily reading children quickly start reading nursery rhymes and fairy tales effortlessly.

Pros:

  • very easy to follow lessons
  • short engaging lessons
  • affordable
  • uses phonics and phenomes which is scientifically proven to be an effective learning method

Cons:

  • primarily online-based learning so may not be accessible to everyone
  • parents participation is required
  • requires time and effort

How Does the Program Work

I love the fact that this program not only teaches children how to read but it teaches parents and grandparents how to teach.

Children Learning Reading uses the scientifically proven method of phonics and phonemes to teach children to read quickly and fluently building confidence and independence.

Phonics:

Phonics is the primary technique that improves a child’s reading ability. It stresses the relationship that one letter has with another and how differently they can sound individually or together in a word. It ensures the ability to sound out an unknown word.

Phonics can also improve speech. It is by a solid understanding of letters and their sounds, that children can effectively learn reading and improve speech.

Phonemes:

Phonemes are the smallest unit of sound and when combined with other sounds creates a word. The English language contains 26 letters and 44 phonemes and over 1700 ways of combining and pronouncing them.

Phonemes in combination with phonics are the core of the written and spoken word.

With daily practice, children are capable of picking up new words easily.

Each lesson is short and focuses on understanding concepts rather than memorizing facts which makes it less likely for the child to forget the lesson.

This allows each lesson to build upon the previous lesson ineffective and steady progress.

Advantages

While there are several great programs out there to help teach children to read, this program had features that pushed it to the top of my list.

  • It is easy to use. Not all of us are great, patient teachers and the fact that I just have to follow directions makes it perfect.
  • it only requires 10 -15 minutes a day which means it fits into even the busiest of schedules
  • You can start as young as 2 years old giving plenty of time to enjoy reading and learning before formal school education begins.
  • Because the lessons are so short they can hold the attention of a busy toddler
  • It can help significantly improve the reading skills of an early elementary child
  • Doesn’t require a second purchase for subsequent children
  • Lifetime upgrades mean you always have the newest, most effective version.

My Favourite Part

We would all love to give our kids the best start in life but can’t afford to break the bank to do so. I absolutely love how affordable this program is.

Not all of us are tech-savvy so I am impressed with how user-friendly this program is. Parents and grandparents can easily use this program to teach the children in their life how to read confidently.

The fact that this is mainly a digital product means there are no parts that can go missing several books or discs that can clutter up the house. Keeps thing nice a tidy which is important to me.

Not growing up with computers I tend to be quite skeptical when it comes to online purchases. This program comes with a 60-day (no questions asked) unconditional money-back guarantee.

While I love this product I realize that not everyone does so the guarantee is something I really look for in a product especially if I am going to recommend it.

I recommend using PayPal as a payment option because of the double-layer of buying protection it offers.

To Sum It All Up

It is my opinion that “children learning reading” will give our children many advantages in school and life.

Early reading develops confidence which will carry over into all aspects of the child’s life.

They will be more confident when meeting new friends, trying new sports, or attending new schools.

It sets them up for efficient study habits and therefore higher education later in life.

While there are several good early childhood reading programs on the market this one really tops my list.

I hope my “children learning reading” review has been able to assist you in making an informed decision.

Thanks for dropping by, please leave comments or questions below. I will respond.

  1. Hi,
Thank you for introducing Children Learning Reading program.
I have a four-year-old daughter. She still did not learn the Alphabet. When I asked her a couple of months ago if she wanted to learn it, she said, “it is too difficult”. I thought that I’d better not push her too hard. So, the teaching was delayed to some later time. Still, I read a lot of books to her.

I fully agree with the importance of reading ability. So, Children Learning Reading program looks interesting to me.

Over the years, I learned some contradictory theories about whether teaching the Alphabet at an early age is beneficial to children or not. When my daughter is willing to learn the Alphabet, I want to try this program.

The video introduced in the article was well-made by showing some impressive results of many children and visually effective infographics.

I learned a lot from your article, such as the concept of sight words, phonic reading, and phonemic awareness. And, I really love the techniques of using phonics and phonemic teaching.
Thank you for introducing this program.

    • I can understand not wanting to push your daughter especially if you have received conflicting information. Here in Canada our children start kindergarten at 5 years old and are expected to be able to recognize their printed name, recognize at least least some of the alphabet printed and recognize numbers. They also need to be able to put shoes/boots and coats on themselves for outside play at recess. We have to push our kids to some degree in order for them to experience success. Children learning reading can begin as young as 2 with only 15 minutes per day. The child learns easily when it becomes a regular part of every day. I am happy to hear you read to her regularly, I have heard of so many that don’t read to their children. With my own kids, we read a story at bedtime every night. I do the same with my grand-kids whenever they sleepover. I wish you and your daughter many more great reading experiences as she grows and learns.

I was planning to go back to Canada in a year or so.
, but my plan may change due to Coronavirus pandemics.
I hope I can learn a lot from this site, and let’s keep in touch.

        • Hi Jason
Always great to hear from a fellow Canadian especially when they currently live abroad. We can definitely keep in touch although I prefer to keep social chat in a more private setting. I have also sent you a private message.I will continue to search for more amazing products for children although this site is mainly about Type 1 Diabetes and things involved in caring for that as we have a Type 1 grandson. Take care and stay safe. I do hope you can come back to Canada, perhaps once they develop a vaccine for Corona Virus.
